Many stories, many voices, one language… DANCE
The mission of CrossCurrents Dance Company is to reveal the strength of our human stories through the language of dance. In our programs we seek to frame and capture the intricate web of shared experiences that connect us to each other and to our larger communities. The work of the company has been characterized as “finely etched dancing and dramatically cogent choreography.” (Lisa Traiger, the Washington Post). CrossCurrents Dance Company has performed throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan area at venues that include the Kennedy Center, Dance Place, the Clarice Smith Center at the University of Maryland, Gunston Performing Arts Center, the Chesapeake Center for the Arts, and the Jack Guidone Theatre. Residencies and community outreach projects have included the James Hubert Blake High School, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, the Landon School, the Washington Home, Ashburton Wyngate Child Development Center, Imagination Bethesda, and Micah House, a homeless shelter for abused women. Founded 1996. Co-Founders Helen Hayes and Debra Kanter. Artistic Director, Debra Kanter.
